The state of our economy may be depressing and cause much anxiety. People are anxious and not unusual to start to feel sick or in despair. Most people do not say that volunteering can be a recipe for a healthy life, but for a good dose of 'return' can make you feel better, more connected socially, mentally alert, and has the advantage of your be less likely to have heart disease.
The health benefits of volunteering are welldocumented. Robert Grimm, director of research and policy development of the National Community Service in Washington, DC, provides that "Those who are offered regularly - one or two hours a week - tend to live longer, have lower rates of depression and recover more quickly from the disease. "*
The positive effects of volunteering for adults 65 years found that:
• physical and mental health was caused by a feeling of personal satisfaction they received fromvolunteering .**
• Older people who voluntarily spend about 315 hours a year to socialize with other people, compared to approximately 243 hours for volunteers and former volunteers combined, the results suggest that the more time spent interacting with other people helps build social capital and good health.
The benefits of volunteering across the community, but also about the person providing the service. To summarize the findings of several studies, in "good health is maintainedvolunteers, maintains healthy volunteers ***.
