Walking is good exercise?
In this day and age of the pills and devices, and if I told you there was something I could do that would greatly reduce the likelihood of dying from a chronic disease, improve cardiovascular health and helps you lose a "little weight?
Well, put away your credit card, because there is a pill, device operating stranger, or even an eBook. In fact, not even for sale.
What can you do all thesebenefits?
It 's simple: to walk.
Walking can help prevent disease?
Researchers studying the relationship between physical activity and mortality found an interesting link: a person spends more time sitting, more likely to die of a chronic illness like heart disease, cancer or diabetes. (Sitting time and mortality from all causes, cardiovascular disease and cancer - The American College of SportsMedicine - May 2009)
What was really interesting about this study is that the sitting time was associated with a mortality rate of chronic diseases such as high, regardless of where the person exercising habits.
So even if you train hard 5 times a week, if you spend most of the time does not exercise session, it was still a high risk of death from chronic diseases.
Walking vs High Intensity Cardiovascular ExerciseHealth
While no one can deny the benefits of vigorous exercise, does not offer benefits for cardiovascular health was simply walking.
In one study, researchers found that only 30 minutes of walking per day reduced the inflammation (which leads to hardening of the arteries) and hemostasis (weak stream, blood slowly). (Walking, vigorous physical activity, and markers of inflammation and hemostasis in healthy men and women - Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science inSports - December 2008)
intense exercise, however, found only to reduce hemostasis.
Walk your way thin - Walking for fat loss
So, as we see above, walking is a necessity for healthy and prevent disease.
But to lose weight?
A simple solution to fat loss - eat less, move more
Just eat a little less and do more to operate a severe weight loss?
Let's look at ourfamous friend, Jared Fogle, I'm sure you've seen these ads on the subway.
His approach to weight loss was simple: He ate less per day, enough to have a 6 "turkey sub for lunch, and 12-inch vegetable sub for dinner.
Jared increase their activities to walk 1.5 miles a day from home to work instead of taking the bus.
What were your results?
After a year of doing this regimen every day, Jared has lost an incredible 245 pounds, from425 to 180 pounds!
Simple enough, right?
In summary
Walk for the prevention of chronic diseases take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther from your office, take a walk instead of sitting at your desk for lunch.
If it is active, used to walk anti-inflammatory capacity by adding periods of standing throughout the week.
Walking to lose weight - eat less and walk more! Be consistent - do it every day and lost a lot ofweight over a year. (I would add a couple of minutes in 15 sessions of resistance training such as pushups, increases, and community centers to help build lean muscle mass while losing fat)
So to answer the question: "It's a good exercise to walk?" I would say, with enthusiasm, YES!
