Pancreatic cancer is cancer that spreads to other organs within the body. In the United States each year 29,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer is diagnosed a disease that is fourth in terms of mortality. Pancreatic cancer 6% of cancer deaths, while one of the deadliest ( mortality rate is approximately 10 per 100,000 inhabitants). This mortality is mainly due to the vast majority of patients who are notdiagnosed until the disease has reached an advanced stage in which other organs are likely to be infected. So when I finally diagnosed the patient has what is known as metastatic pancreatic cancer. One reason for the detection difficult (and without knowing the exact cause of pancreatic cancer) is its position as the pancreas secretes between the stomach and spine. Add to this the fact that pancreatic cancer symptoms are very confusingThis means that sometimes can be mistaken for other diseases.
To understand the disease, we must first understand how a cell develops a carcinogen in the body. The mature cells, like all other living beings who are born, grow, reproduce and die in the end. The cells reproduce by dividing in a process called mitosis, in which a mother cell forms two daughter cells. Normal cells divide only for wound repair or replace those lost or killed, then stop dividing. InBy contrast, cancer is a continuous multiplication of abnormal cells. The cells divide uncontrollably and form masses and growth in surrounding areas and spread to other parts of the body, this activity is known as metastasis. These masses of cancerous cells long enough to cause large tumors that can be detected. The generic name of cancer depends on the organ where it originated. Therefore, lung cancer in the lungs, breast cancermammary gland, liver cancer and metastatic liver cancer of the pancreas in the pancreas. For example, if a cancer that originates in the mammary gland and proceeds to spread to other areas then known as metastatic breast cancer. vessels nodes and circulation are similar to the blood, lymph, but rather put in instead of blood. Lymph is a clear liquid containing cellular debris and immune system cells. While cancer cellsspread through the bloodstream may give rise to metastases in distant organs, cancer cells that spread through the lymphatic system are concentrated in the lymph nodes in areas close to their place of origin.
Once you are aware of some medical terms then you really can begin to understand how this disease spreads and options for the treatment of metastatic pancreatic cancer. A second stage of pancreatic cancer for many patients, the treatment is chemotherapy and theradiation accompanied by a surgery which removes the affected part of the body. As others already in progress there are other alternatives such as palliative care. Of course, technology is advancing rapidly and the latest medical breakthroughs developed by Dr. Joseph M. Issels is immunotherapy. Designed to stimulate the regulatory mechanisms, repair mechanisms and the body's immune system to recognize and kill tumor cells. Thistreatment using the latest technology with cancer vaccines and other therapies based on research, hopefully, prolong life expectancy metastatic pancreatic cancer.
