Walking regularly prevents pancreatic cancer

Classified as cancer related to the fifth leading cause of death, pancreatic cancer is a disease more important than ever. Smoking, diabetes, and (more recently), diets high in animal fat have been associated with an increased risk of pancreatic cancer.

prevention techniques have been evident on many occasions, including exercise, diets low in animal fats and smoking cessation, but many people are unaware that the simple act of walking is asignificant deterrent to contract pancreatic cancer as well.

A 20-year study published in the Journal of American Medicine in 2001 found a 50% reduction in the rates of pancreatic cancer for both men and women among people who have walked only 1.5 hours a week.

Study participants included approximately 46,000 men (ages 40-75) and 117,000 women (age 30-55). Those who participated in the shortest amount of moderate exercise were 2 times more likely to develop pancreatic cancer.

The exercise has been more critical for individuals with higher BMI (Body Mass Index), and BMI is 1.72x more likely to contract pancreatic cancer as those with low average. Surprisingly higher altitudes increases the risk by 1.8 times.

Walking has been shown to reduce the possibility of developing many major diseases including murderers of the nation: heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes.

According to the American> American Cancer Society more than 42,000 contracts with pancreatic cancer this year and 35,000 people die from the disease.

Recent studies by the National Institutes of Health found a 36% increase in rates of pancreatic cancer among individuals who consume large amounts of saturated fats (dairy and meat products). More found a 43% increase in the overall rate of cancer among individuals who consume too much saturated fat.

The evidence isoverwhelming evidence that diets low in saturated fat and walk as much as possible every day is essential to overall health and cancer prevention.
